Review + Giveaway: Want It by Jennifer Chance

Genre:Contemporary Romance
Release: December 9, 2014

Blurb:
In the latest tantalizing Rule Breakers novel from Jennifer Chance, an irresistible alpha male follows his ex into a deadly standoff—and reignites a heated affair.
For Erin Connelly, being a good girl isn’t such a bad thing. She’s working her dream job at a Boston art gallery and staying out of trouble, which is more than she can say for her deadbeat mom. Unfortunately, her mother’s latest misadventure lands her in the clutches of a Mexican drug lord. Now the only person who can save her is the one man Erin has no business asking for help: the sexy-as-sin army ranger who just so happens to be her former high school sweetheart.
Zander James is no gentleman—and no officer, either, thanks to Erin. Four years ago, she made a call that terminated his highest aspirations . . . and their relationship. He’s never forgiven her, but when he learns that Erin’s embarking on a half-baked rescue mission, he sure as hell can’t let her go alone. Now, with a treacherous enemy lying in wait, the electrifying tension between them may just be Zander’s undoing. Because while he may be able to keep Erin alive, he can’t promise to keep his hands off her.

Review:

Want It, book 3 in the Rule Breakers series, is a story all about getting a second chance at love with a bit more of a dramatic twist to it.

Though Want It wasn't my favorite out of the this series so far, I do like stories like this--stories about lost loves and coming back together. Zander is the typical guy out looking for adventure and Erin is a little more cautious, and eventually their high school romance ends abruptly and leaves some unresolved issues. Fast forward some odd years and now Erin needs help finding her absentee mother who has been abducted and Zander is the man for the job. I wasn't sure if I was going to get into the whole "my mom has been abducted" thing, but it worked and added that dash of drama, but I'm more into romance and towards the last half of the book, I just didn't feel it. Zander still held some anger towards what happened during their breakup all those years ago and I ended up just not feeling their connection in the end. He may have forgiven her, but I didn't feel it the way I probably should have by the books end. Despite all that, I've enjoyed Jennifer Chance's other work and plan to read future books, especially from this particular series because I liked the first two so much,

Review + Giveaway: All I Want by J Daniels

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release: November 24, 2014

Blurb:
Luke Evans is a heartbreaker.
I didn't want to give mine to him. Not when he kept me out.
He gave me enough, just enough to make me fall in love with him. I say this to convince myself. But I know the truth.
I would've fallen in love with him at a distance.
Handing my heart over to Luke was the easiest thing I've ever done. I was naive when I wished for more, when I hoped he wanted the same things I did.
I try to hate him. I try to forget him.
But it's not that easy.
Love is a ruthless bitch, and I'm her latest victim.

Tessa Kelly is a man-eater.
When she sets her sights on you, she doesn't just consume your heart, she goes for your soul.
What we had was perfect, real, and all I would ever want.
But she destroyed it.
She destroyed us.
I try to hate her. I try to forget her.
But it's not that easy.
Love is for people who have hope, and I have none.

Review:

Sweet.Baby.Jesus!

J Daniels never disappoints! I'm a single mom and college student, so I'm careful with how I spend my money, but I'm all about One-Clicking her shit so fast-- I don't care what the cost is. Now I don't want that to seem like her books are super expensive, because that's not true and the prices on Amazon Kindle are great... All I'm saying is that if her books were $10+, I'd still buy them every.damn.time! J Daniels has got a fan for life in me...

All I Want is book 2 in The Alabama Summer Series, but can be read as a standalone-- but if you know what's good for you, you'll read Where I Belong as well. When you read book 1 you'll get just a little taste into how Tessa and Luke started and what broke them apart, but again, it will all be recapped for you in All I Want.

With that being said, All I Want starts off with the lingering bitterness from a rough break up between Tessa and Luke. It's obvious these two need to work on their communication skills, but sometimes it's hard to shake off an imagine you've made for yourself, so people just start assuming things about you. And Luke doesn't help things by keeping a firm wall between his past and personal with his family up against everyone else, and that doesn't fly with Tessa.

There is the usual back and forth love/hate thing going on, but their deep longing and passion for each other is undeniable and burns through in every page. All these two want is each other, but there are things holding them back. They are both willing to make sacrifices for the other to be happy and if loving and letting go is what needs to happen, then so be it. *tear*

You'll laugh and despair over Tessa's attempts at online dating. You'll swoon and excuse yourself for a quick panty change anytime Luke opens his mouth. You'll flush and "aww" over the pure sweetness that is Mia, Ben and the ever adorable Sir Nolan!

Written Revelry gives All I Want 5 out of 5!

Seriously, this book has everything. Dirty talk. Sexy (and meaningful) tattoos. Badassery. Reed's usual manwhoring ways. The texting-- I mean, are you freaking kidding me? *Wet* And Mason, an uber hot Aussie who just so happens to be moving to Chicago-- if you've read the Sweet Addition series then you know what I'm alluding to! AHH!

*Get Where I Belong, Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession for only 99 pennies until the end of this tour! One-click it, ladies! You wont be disapppinted. : ))*

Review+ Giveaway: Freed (Club Sin #3.5) by Stacey Kennedy

Genre: Erotica, Romance
Release: November 4, 2014

Blurb:
Perfect for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, the Club Sin series continues with Freed, a wicked, wild novel from USA Today bestselling author Stacey Kennedy.
Mary Schmidt knows only too well how thrilling a Master’s touch can be. Her husband, Charles, had been her ultimate fantasy, a seducer in the erotic dance of dominance and submission. She misses the sensual lifestyle they shared, but mourns him so deeply she cannot bear to embrace her submissive needs with another Dom—until a man who exudes temptation reawakens desires she can no longer deny.
Elliott Foster is dazzled by Mary. He instantly knows that she’s the woman he’s been waiting for—a woman who turns games into need. As her Master, he dares to unlock the deepest pleasures of her flesh, releasing her from pain and healing her mind. When Mary’s lithe body comes to life under his, he knows their connection goes beyond sex. Now that he has found the perfect woman, the perfect partner, the perfect submissive, he desires only to give her everything she craves.

Review:

For fans of the Club Sin series you'll enjoy getting to read about Mary's story. You first met her in Claimed, book 1 of the Club Sin series, so you already have a bit of a background on her. She is a doctor, former submissive to her late husband Charles (who taught Dmitri everything he knows), and is lonely.

It has been a long time since Mary has indulge in the lifestyle, she sort of lost that side of her when Charles passed away to cancer, but it was nice to see Elliot fight for her and break down those walls. Though I enjoyed the flashbacks, there were times when it was distracting-- not only for me, but obviously for Mary's character. I understood her heartbreak, but there were times when I just wanted to shake her and tell her to focus on the present.

Written Revelry gives Freed 3 out of 5.
If you're a fan of the Club Sin Series you'll definitely want to read Mary's HEA. For you newbies, just be aware that despite the book cover, this is a mature couple, not those 20-30 year old you're used to reading. It's nice to see they still got it. And though this wasn't my favorite of the series, go read the others (Claimed, Bared, and Desired).

Review + Giveaway: Bittersweet by Sunday James

Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Release: September 2014

Blurb:
Sparks fly between a sexy stranger and a small-town waitress in this steamy new contemporary romance…

When new teen TV series 'Bittersweet' begins shooting in Dogwood, Virginia, the small town is abuzz with excitement. But local waitress Cathy Johnson has too much on her plate to waste time being star-struck. To Cathy, "bittersweet" is just the word that sums up her love-life after her high school romance ended in disaster. Since then she’s hardly had time to brush her hair, let alone think about relationships. Certainly not the kind being played out in front of the cameras by impossibly beautiful actors posing as teenagers…

But all that changes when tall, dark, blue-eyed stranger Greg Moran arrives in Dogwood along with the 'Bittersweet' cast and crew. Cathy and the devastatingly sexy New Yorker have instant chemistry. But Greg blows hot (STEAMING hot) and cold with her romantically, leaving Cathy’s head in a spin. She has a feeling he’s keeping something from her… If Cathy is willing to drop her emotional walls, why is Greg still so intense and mysterious? What is it in his past – or present – that means he’s keeping Cathy at arm’s length? How badly has his heart really been broken before?

Cathy and Greg are magnetically drawn to one another, but they’ll have to fight to keep their relationship from turning sour. Will they make it? If it’s hard to let go of the past, falling in love can be BITTERSWEET…

Review:

Bittersweet was a refreshing read for me right now because it has been different from what I've been reading. It wasn't overly dramatic, it flowed well, and though it was mostly told from Cathy's point of view that last little bit was in Greg's which is always fun and it was nice to get a bit of an insight into Greg.

I liked Cathy's character. She has a lot on her shoulders with helping her dad with his health and restaurant and basically raising her younger brother after their mom walked out for the bright lights of Hollywood. This girl needs to learn how to make time for herself, and when Greg comes rolling in to town it seems like the perfect opportunity. Greg seems like a decent guy, but he has a major chip on his shoulder. He obviously has some family issues and stress and need to be successful as an actor has him constantly on edge. He comes off as a mystery most of the time and he is far from the dominant guy I'm used to reading about and because of this he runs hot and cold with Cathy throughout the whole book. I just wanted more from his character, so I'm really looking forward to the next book and hopefully diving more into the mystery behind Greg.

SAVE ME AND I'LL SAVE YOU....

My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole.
My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn-- is crazy.

I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me.

I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline.

Dare DuBray.

He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me.
He has the power to destroy me.

Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt.

Why? Because of a secret.

A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming.
You won’t either.

EXCERPT:
Glancing up, I suck my breath in when I find dark eyes connected to mine, eyes so dark they’re almost black, and the energy in them is enough to freeze me in place.
A boy is attached to the dark gaze.
A man.
He’s probably no more than twenty or twenty-one, but everything about him screams man.  There’s no boy in him.  That part of him is very clearly gone.  I see it in his eyes, in the way he holds himself, in the perceptive way he takes in his surroundings, then stares at me with singular focus, like we’re somehow connected by a tether.  He’s got a million contradictions in his eyes….aloofness, warmth, mystery, charm, and something else I can’t define.
He’s muscular, tall, and wearing a tattered black sweatshirt that says Irony is lost on you in orange letters.  His dark jeans are belted with black leather, and a silver band encircles his middle finger.
Dark hair tumbles into his face and a hand with long fingers impatiently brushes it back, all the while his eyes are still connected with mine.  His jaw is strong and masculine, with the barest hint of stubble.
His gaze is still connected to mine, like a livewire, or a lightning bolt.  I can feel the charge of it racing along my skin, like a million tiny fingers, flushing my cheeks.  My lungs flutter and I swallow hard.
And then, he smiles at me.
At me.
Because I don’t know him and he doesn’t know better.

Review + Giveaway: One in a Million by Jill Shalvis

**Check out my interview with Jill Shalvis HERE!**

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release: October 14, 2014

Blurb:

As the brains behind wedding site TyingTheKnot.com, Callie sees it all: from the ring to the dress, the smiles . . . to the tears. It's that last part that keeps her single and not looking. Getting left at the altar will do that to a girl. But when Callie returns to her old hometown, she finds that her sweet high school crush is sexier than ever. And he makes it hard to remember why she's sworn off love . . .

Tanner is a deep-sea diver with a wild, adrenaline-junkie past—and now his teenage son is back in his life. How can Tanner be a role model when he's still paying for his own mistakes? It's hard enough that gorgeous Callie has appeared in town like a beautiful dream, challenging his best-laid plans to keep his heart on lockdown. Though there's something about being around her again that makes him feel like he can be the man she—and his son—deserve. Little Lucky Harbor holds their past; can it hold a beautiful new future?

Review:

Does it feel like the end of an era? Because it feels like the end of an era… One in a Million marks the 12th and final book of the Lucky Harbor series—one of my all-time favorite book series. When there are so many books in a series they can sometime get a bit stale (expect you JD Robb, nothing but mad love for the In Death books). The plots get repetitive and the characters no longer hold your interest, but Jill Shalvis comes back each time with a fresh idea full of panty melting alphas and endearing, feisty as hell female leads. I think she's able to pull that all off because she releases a batch of three books at a time. All twelve books are based in Lucky Harbor and you see familiar faces, but each set of three focuses solely on three new couples and sets of conflicts.

One in a Million finishes the Lucky Harbor Charter guys and their ladies with Tanner and Callie.

Tanner and Callie are both originally from Lucky Harbor and even though Callie eventually moved away I don't think she ever lost that crush she had on Tanner back in high school. Callie was the geeky smart girl who did the athletes homework… Tanner was the athlete, star football player. Now-a-days Callie runs her own business focusing on weddings despite her own negative experience with her own almost wedding, so understandably she's a bit skittish and deals with the fear of rejection. Tanner is former Navy SEAL, an adrenaline junkie—like any alpha male would be—and runs Lucky Harbor Charters with his three best friends (that you can read about in the 10th and 11th books). On top of all that his ex has decided she no longer has the time to raise their 15 year old son and the responsibility has fallen to Tanner, but he is all over it. I really enjoyed reading the scenes between Tanner and his unruly teenage son Troy and then bonding scenes between Troy and Callie.

Something you'll get a lot of in this book is Lucille and more of her crazy antics. As Lucky Harbor's resident matchmaker and all around gossip master, she has set all her energy on her granddaughter who came back into town to make sure she hasn't gone completely crazy, and that lucky girl is Callie. I love how Jill Shalvis seamlessly tied Callie back into Lucky Harbor and attached Lucille to her story. As always, Lucille is up to her scheming ways, but it's all for the greater good of course, and some fun things happen to Lucille as well. Lucky Harbor fans will definitely not want to miss this book, not only because Lucille surprises us all once again, but because Lucky Harbor really is the place to get lucky… And of course I mean that in every way possible! *wink wink*

Interview + Givaway: Jill Shalvis

Hi, Jill! Thank you so much for stopping by, and congrats on the release of One in a Million!

In honor of Callie, What is your favorite part/thing about weddings, and why?

Definitely the romance of it all!  Seeing the excitement – and nerves – between the bride and groom (which I initially typed as hero and heroine lol!)

I've always been fascinated by the research that goes into writing a book. Did you come across anything challenging/funny/interesting while researching for One in a Million?

Lots!!!  Here’s a few:
1. Hey, brides, tuck a sugar cube into your glove -- according to Greek culture, the sugar will sweeten your union.
2. The English believe a spider found in a wedding dress means good luck. Yikes!
3. In English tradition, Wednesday is considered the "best day" to marry, although Monday is for wealth and Tuesday is for health.
4. The groom carries the bride across the threshold to bravely protect her from evil spirits lurking below.
5. Saturday is the unluckiest wedding day, according to English folklore. Funny -- it's the most popular day of the week to marry!  -- (from wedding.theknot.com)
Now that you're finished with the Lucky Harbor series (insert pout here), do you have plans for another series? If so, can you give us a couple hints as to what it will be about?

it will have hot heroes.  J  I’m sorry, I’m on strict gag order here.  I’ll be announcing the new series shortly after the holidays, I promise!

Continuing on with talk about series, I love the small town, middle of nowhere feel of Animal Magnetism. From what I understand book 6 will be coming out within the next year, can tell us a bit about Darcy and AJ? Also, how many more books can we look out for in the AM series?

Darcy and AJ’s story is called STILL THE ONE and let’s just say that neither Darcy nor AJ saw it coming. J

Okay, one last super important question, what's the last song you listened to on repeat?

Ed Sheeran’s Don’t.  I heart him.

Interview + Giveaway: Julie Brannagh

**Read my review of Covering Kendall HERE!**

As you all know, I'm a football fan. Even more than that, I looooove, dare I say luuuurve, me some hometown football. When I was asked to read Covering Kendall, a tale containing two of my favorite things: hometown football and romance-- I jumped on the chance to review it.

And now, as a little bonus, take a gander at my interview with the master mind behind Covering Kendall, USA Best Selling Author Julie Brannagh!

Hi, Julie! Congrats on the release of Covering Kendall and thank you for taking the time to answer some questions! : )
Thank you for inviting me. I’m so excited to be here!
Kendall and Drew met in a bookstore, and both enjoy the occasional book versus what's on their e-readers. What is the last actual book you bought and read from a bookstore? Do you prefer the turning of pages to the swiping of a screen?
Believe it or not, I’m trying to remember the last actual book I bought from a bookstore. We gave our little cousin Leticia books for her first birthday last year – does that count? She loved Goodnight Moon and Pat the Bunny!
I got my first Kindle four years ago for Christmas. I LOVE IT. I upgraded to the Paperwhite a couple of years ago. I’m pretty much exclusive to the E-reader now. I still love print books, but the ability to bring an entire library with me wherever I go is wonderful.
I, like you, live in Washington and love football (Go Hawks!). I noticed that Drew and his teammates visit the local children’s hospital, much like real-life Seahawks player Russell Wilson. Do you draw a lot of what the Sharks do from the Seahawks? Are any of your characters loosely based of any Seahawks players? And… do we see another Super Bowl win in the Sharks future?
Go Hawks!
I read various sports websites and publications every day. The Sharks’ adventures spring from many, many sources. I know there are plenty of players around the league who visit children in the hospital, but sending my team to Children’s on their day off each week was pretty much irresistible due to Russell Wilson’s great example! Some characters stroll into my mind fully-formed. Others are a slow, painstaking process. All are imaginary.
The Sharks have already gone to the “big game” once. If I get the go-ahead to write more books in the Sharks series, I think there may be more playoffs in their future!
I’m always curious how authors see their characters. If Covering Kendall were made into a movie, which actor and actress would you like to see playing Drew and Kendall?
Hmmm. Drew: Long blond hair, piercing blue eyes, looks like a modern-day Viking? Chris Hemsworth would be perfect for the movie! ;-)
Kendall’s a little tougher. My publisher asks me to submit photos of people I think look like my characters so the art department can get a sense of what I was thinking about when I wrote them. I know what Kendall looks like, but the only actress I could think of that might come close to what was in my head is Amanda Peet.
Now about the writing process. Do you have any strange writing habits/traditions (like favorite writing pants, songs that inspire you, etc.)?
I have all kinds of strange writing habits and traditions.  Here are a few examples.
I write at home in my office wearing a nightgown and big socks. One of the best gifts anyone ever gave me was a fleece ruana; I wrap up in it while I’m working, too. I know I have a new book to write when the characters start talking in my head.  It’s even better when they start arguing with each other; I need to tell their story!
Other authors can do stuff like go to a coffee shop and write. I need to be by myself when I work. I also listen to a wide variety of music while I’m working. I’m the weirdo that listens to Christmas music year-round on Pandora. When I’m not listening to Silent Night in July, I’m listening to everything from C-89 in Seattle (KNHC-FM – dance music streamed worldwide!) to classical music to whatever I can find on YouTube that reflects my current mood. I listen to everything from dino rock to whatever’s most recent. And I turn it up!
I always pick at least one song to listen to while I’m writing because it reminds me of my characters and the story. While I was writing Drew and Kendall, I listened to John Legend’s “All of Me”. Oddly enough, I kept listening to it while I was writing HOLDING HOLLY. I listened to the Foo Fighters’ “The Best of You” when I wrote CHASING JILLIAN.
Some authors are very organized (plotters). Others are like me: Pantsers. We sit down at the desk each morning and just start writing. I have had to change my process over the past year because I have deadlines and need a plan, for instance. I have at least a working plot and know who my characters are when I’m writing now. I didn’t figure out how COVERING KENDALL was going to end until two days before I wrote, “The End”, however…
Finally, GoodReads and Amazon show that you have a book coming out in March—Chasing Jillian. Can you tell us a little bit about Chasing Jillian? This will be book 5 in the Love and Football series, do you have plans for more in this particular series, or have you thought about branching out? Possibly with other sports?
CHASING JILLIAN is probably the most difficult book I have written because of the subject matter. I wrote the book in a period of weeks – I couldn’t stop writing until I was done with the story. Jillian tugged at my heart. I thought she was the one who needed a happily ever after the most, but as I wrote, I realized that Seth needed a woman who would love him for who he is for the rest of her life. Seth and Jillian’s story is unlike any other book I have written so far. I hope readers will love it – and them!
I hope to write more Sharks books in the future. We’ll see! I do know that anything else I write will be based in Seattle. I love my hometown, and I hope my readers will fall in love with it, too!
Well, I can't wait to see what the future holds for the Sharks! Thanks again, Julie!

About Julie:
Julie Brannagh has been writing since she was old enough to hold a pencil. She lives in a small town near Seattle, where she once served as a city council member and owned a yarn shop. She shares her home with a wonderful husband, two uncivilized Maine Coons and a rambunctious chocolate Lab. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, or armchair-quarterbacking her favorite NFL team from the comfort of the family room couch. Julie is a Golden Heart finalist and the author of contemporary sports romances.
