Review: Promise Me This by Christina Lee

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Release: October 7th, 2014

Blurb:
A new love will test the boundaries of passion between a privileged boy next door and the tattooed, blue-haired girl who helps him embrace his wild side...

Nate has developed quite a playboy reputation around campus. It's not that he doesn't respect or trust women; he doesn't trust himself. The men in Nate's family are prone to abusive behavior—a dirty secret that Nate's been running from his entire life—so Nate doesn't do relationships. But he can't help himself around one girl…

Jessie is strong, independent, and works at a tattoo parlor. Nate can't resist getting close to her, even if it's strictly a friendship. But it doesn't take long for Nate to admit that what he wants with Jessie is more than just friendly.

With Jessie, he can be himself and explore what he's always felt was a terrifying darkness inside him. Even when Nate begins to crave her in a way that both shocks and horrifies him, Jessie still wants to know every part of him. Testing their boundaries together will take a trust that could render them inseparable… or tear them apart.

Review:
I've read all the books in the Between Breathes Series, but something about Promise Me This really got to me. It was one of those up till 2am reads and I had no problem waking up at 5:30 and imitating a zombie for the rest of the day. Christina Lee, you nailed it with this one.

Nate and Jessie may be opposite on paper and even in looks, but I truly believe these two are kindred spirits. Jessie is a tatted up aspiring photographer and I have a major girl crush on her. I just want to go all best friend status on her and eat a whole box of pizza and talk about life all night…annnnd maybe get matching tattoos. Nate is a super fine, built, dominate disguised as a preppy college guy. I will take one of him with a side of handcuffs please. Seriously… the guy is smokin'!

In Promise Me This Nate is struggling with certain demons and urges, but Jessie is a great balance to all that. She gives Nate the support and trust he has never gotten from anyone else, and with that he becomes brave enough to face those demons head on. These two both have their assertive kickass sides, but I love when their soft vulnerable sides come out.

What I love about Christina Lee's writing is that it's real and raw. It's flirty and fun. I just want to jump into her stories and live it all out with her characters. They deal with some heavy issues, but the softer moments balance everything out nicely. And I think Promise Me This has some of the hottest sex scenes in the series. I mean, these two were on fire. The heat poured off each page… I just love Nate's dirty mouth!

Written Revelry gives Promise Me This a 4.5 out of 5 and a little handcuff action in honor of Nate and Jessie!

p.s... Keep your eye out for a sneak peak at the end of Promise Me This. A familiar character will be getting their own story in Christina Lee's upcoming Adult Romance Two of Hearts.
